Rolls-Royce wants to build it for 2020. Cooperation with Electroflight (energy systems startup) and YASA (e-motors). Next Spring, the plane will achieve 480 km/h record.

The racing plane is hoped to be the fastest electric plane in history
Real challenge for aeronautical industry
The one-seater racing plane will be completely assembled by next Spring. It has the aim of breaking world record top speed. Siemens had set the previous record in 2017 with a speed of 338 km per hour.
Importance of ACCEL (Accelerating the Electrification of Flight) is key for the project. It is an innovative project that’s intended "to pioneer a third wave of aviation in support of Rolls-Royce’s strategy to champion electrification".
What makes a difference from this aircraft to the previous ones and its aim to break the world speed record it´s the electrical system and a very developed battery which will be in ACCELs´ Project Manager words "the most powerful battery ever built for flight". The battery will make possible a London-Paris flight on a single charge.
The age of electric aviation has just begun but with the recent investigations and projects worldwide but we can start to see and forecast that the future of aviation is undoubtly going hand in hand with this industry.
